포스트소셜 시대에 지역학으로서 음악학은 아직 유효한가?
소위 포스트소셜 시대에는 선험적이고 본질적인 지역성에 대한 탐색이 아니라 ‘유동적이고 구성되는 것’으로서 지역 개념이 요구된다. 오늘날은 사회가 영역 개념이 아니라 사람들 사이 네트워킹의 연쇄 개념 으로 정의되는 시대이다. 따라서 지역 또한 그 고전적 개념의 폐기와 재구성이 요구되는 시점이다. 이런 상황에서 ‘지역학으로서 음악학’은 여전히 영역 중심의 지역 구획 개념에 머물고 있고, 이에 더하여 정체성 발굴 작업에 여전히 매몰되어 있다. 정체성은 정치적 작업이지 예술학의 작업이 아니다. 또한 지역음악학이 과거시대 ‘지도 그리기’에 머물고 있음을 반성해야 한다. 이를 위해 이 글에서는 포스트소셜 시대의 지역담 론과 지역음악학의 재구성 가능성을 물었다. 지역음악학은 지역의 음악양식적 정체성 찾기가 아니라, 끊임 없이 변화하고 구성되는 것으로서 지역민의 일상적 음악생태에 관심을 가져야 한다.
Is ‘Musicology as Regional Studies’ Still Valid in the Post-social Era?
In the so-called post-social era, the concept of region as ‘fluid and constructed’ is required, rather than the search for a priori and essential regionality. Today, society is defined not as a territory, but as a chain of networking between people. Therefore, the region also needs to abandon and reconstruct its classical concepts. In this situation, ‘musicology as regional studies’ still remains in the area-centered concept of regional demarcation, and in addition, it is still buried in the task of discovering identity. Identity is a political task, not an artistic task. In addition, we must reflect on the fact that regional musicology is stuck in the ‘map drawing’ of the past. To this end, this article asked about the possibility of reconstructing regional discourse and regional musicology in the post-social era. Regional musicology should not be about finding the identity of regional musical styles, but should be interested in the daily musical ecology of local people as it is constantly changing and being formed.
