세계 속 ‘아리랑’의 가치와 역할
본고는 세계 속 아리랑의 가치와 역할에 대해 가치, 재생, 역할 등 3가지 측면에서 다양한 사례를 중심으 로 고찰한 것이다. 아리랑의 재생은 20세기 이래 세계음악으로 전파되는 과정에서 영화와 음반이라는 대중매체에 의한 재생의 힘으로서 양산되었으며, 다양한 서구의 음악 장르와 융합되는 퓨전음악으로서의 아리랑이 존재하게 되었다. 따라서 세계 인류무형문화유산으로서 아리랑의 융합은 결과가 아닌 문화적 실천이 되었다. 우리는 향후 아리랑의 융합에 있어서 지극히 한국적인, 나아가 한민족다운 핵심 요소를 찾아야 한다. 인하여 아리랑의 역할은 전통음악과 웥드뮤직이란 두 갈래를 잘 조합하는 길이다. 아리랑은 한민족을 대표할 뿐만 아니라, 한민족 문화의 다양성과 독특한 역사의 표상이기에 전통성과 실용성을 갖는다.
The Value and Role of ‘Arirang’ in the World
This study was considered the value and role of Arirang in the world focusing on diverse cases in 3 aspects such as value, reproduction and role. The regeneration of Arirang was mass produced as the power of reproduction by the mass media dubbed movies and records in the process of spreading to world music since the 20th century. Arirang came to exist as a fusion music that is converged with a variety of Western music genres. Accordingly, the convergence of Arirang as the World Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity became a cultural practice, not an outcome. We need to find a core element that is extremely Korean and furthermore Korean style in the convergence of Arirang down the road. Hence, the role of Arirang is a way to well combine the two sections called the traditional music and the world music. Arirang not only represents the Korean people, but also symbolizes the diversity and unique history of Korean culture, thereby having traditionality and practicality.
